People matter to God - and to us.

I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
Luke 15:7

Jesus teaches us to invest most of our time, resources, and talents in those who do not believe in Him. He wants us to be that shepherd looking for the lost sheep or that woman in search for the lost coin. That person who lost his way and distanced himself from Jesus is represented by that lost sheep or that missing coin. It is our responsibility as Christians to be diligent in seeking to "find" that person. We must not judge this "lost" person as he is God's child. We must love that person just like the father in Luke 15 loved his lost son when the son selfishly returned to his father's house.

It takes courage to seek out non-believers. We potentially subject ourselves to rejection and ridicule by doing so. However, it is remarkable to note that the sinners who surrounded Jesus were all genuinely interested in what He had to say. They clearly needed a spiritual change. It's a silent cry for help.

God blessed each of us with a unique set of talents and bestowed on us various blessings. If you are an effective communicator, then you must dedicate such talent for example to preach the gospel, teach students, or defend the innocent. If you are a talented physician then you must dedicate your life to healing the sick in the name of Jesus. If God blessed you with wealth, then you must be charitable in sharing your resources with the poor, and with our churches and Christian institutions, so you can enable them to spread the Gospel and do the Lord's work.

As you read the Bible, have a dual mindset. Recognize that you are the sinner in the Bible. Strive to seek Jesus and hear his teachings - just like the sinners in Luke 15 did. But also know that you are God's child and therefore you must strive to behave like Jesus. After all, all people, including you, matter to God and therefore matter to us.

Please pray for the protection for the students.
