Hundreds of happy parents, staff, visitors and friends gathered on Saturday the 7th of June in Berkovich hall in Nazareth Illit to see 78 twelve graders conclude their journey in NBS in a special graduation ceremony.
The event took a special significance this year in light of the fact that this is the 60th graduation class of NBS.
The ceremony was led by vice principal Suhail Rizik. It was opened by a short personal word from general director Botrus Mansour whose daughter is among the graduation class. He then led the audience with a word of prayer for the graduates.
Then the students sang 2 songs that they are used to sing in chapel ("You are my all in all" as well as a song in Arabic).
NBS chairman of board of trustees Najed Azzam gave a speech where he encouraged the graduates and parents to join in the effort to develop the school including in relocating to a new campus. He concluded his speech with verses from Psalm 1, Matt 16:26 and the words of David:
"Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy" (Psalm 126: 5).
The graduating class then gave speeches and special songs written especially for this occasion as well as a film about their years in school.
NBS presented a short film about the recent achievements and a special section of honoring students including Hanna Moalem from 11th grade who invented a patent that will help short sighted people. Among those honored was also Farris Marjeya from 8th grade who is the football scorer for his team Maccabi Haifa and the whole country.
NBS also honored Mrs. Sawsan Shehadeh, the dedicated Medical Science teacher who gave tirelessly to the students in new major of Medical Science.
Dr. Ousama Moalem gave a speech too urging the students to be learners and students who keep studying in this complicated world.
The students offered the school a special gift of the number 60 with the pictures of all the students of their class on it.
After the handing of certificates all those that attended the ceremony enjoyed time in the plaza in front of the hall with sweets, music and fireworks.
